Queen Máxima StudyPortals International Education

Eindhoven, the Netherlands – April 7, 2017 – Studyportals, the global education choice platform, today celebrated the opening of its new headquarters in the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven. The new office symbolises the next stage in the company’s global impact and growth as it advances into a new period of innovation and strategic planning. Studyportals has opened its new office doors amid a bustling environment of creative, technologically-driven minds who comprise the historic and innovative Strijp-S area in Eindhoven within the Brainport region.

Studyportals was delighted to welcome Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands to symbolically carry out the office opening ceremony. The event also hosted several distinguished guests, including Prof.Dr. Jo Ritzen, the longest-serving Minister of Education in the European Union, as well as two Studyportals student ambassadors and one of last year’s winners of The Global Study Awards. Everyone in attendance received first-hand accounts of how international education has affected not only students but also today’s political and cultural environment.

The timing for the office opening ceremony was especially joyous, having occurred mere weeks after Studyportals received a €5 million investment from KEEN Venture Partners. This investment helped activate the company’s plans for global expansion and innovation, empowering students to better find global education options that match their unique needs.

Distinguished guest Prof. Dr. Jo Ritzen offered these words to everyone about international education in Europe and around the world:

‘The only road to lasting peace and understanding is in human encounters, across the divides of languages, cultures and beliefs. Internationalisation of education is then an important inroad for reducing divisive stereotypes about others and, in that way, reducing the sources of potential conflict. Studyportals helps reduce one of the many obstacles to study abroad. So I realise that, in this way, Studyportals contributes to international understanding, and to a stronger labour force.’

During the opening, Studyportals’ CEO, Edwin van Rest, shared his call to action for everyone in attendance:

‘When I studied in Japan, I felt first-hand how a diverse and international university experience can contribute to better lives but also a connected, more tolerant, and more equal world. This mission is why we founded Studyportals, and what continues to drive us forward. Studyportals is committed to contributing to the world and making international education opportunities more accessible globally.’
