Eindhoven – On April 7th, Her Majesty Queen Máxima opens the new Studyportals headquarters at the ‘Klokgebouw’ in Eindhoven. With its mission to make education choice transparent globally, the company belongs to one of the most international and fastest growing tech companies in the Netherlands. Ever since its foundation, the headquarters remains located in the innovative and dynamic ‘Strijp-S’ area. With the company’s strong roots in Eindhoven, they are proud to continue working on their mission in the monumental and historic ‘Klokgebouw’, which was one of Philips’ early factories.

About ten years ago, making education choice transparent globally was just a dream for the founders of Studyportals – Edwin van Rest, Magnus Olsson and Thijs Putman. Today, Studyportals’ online platform helps over twenty million students annually by enabling them to find their best options from 114,000+ studies at 2,450 different universities in 110 countries. By encouraging students to study abroad, Studyportals motivates young people to take part in a life-changing experience, work on an international network and enhance their social and intercultural skills. Eventually, this experience contributes to economic growth, but also to a more equal, tolerant and connected world – a social mission that Studyportals regularly receives recognition for.

According to the founders, ‘Brainport’ (voted the world’s smartest region), Eindhoven, and the Strijp-S area have contributed greatly to the growth and success of the company. This makes the new location of the headquarters extra special, due to its rich history within the area. First, the idea for Studyportals was born here: at an international study association from the Eindhoven University of Technology. Furthermore, the area is home to an endless supply of young, creative and international talent, which enabled Studyportals to grow into a company with over 160 employees from 35 different nationalities, across offices in four continents. In 2016, Studyportals won the EdTechXGlobal award for best EdTech growth company globally.

“The arrival of Queen Máxima is a major honour and underlines the impact that we want to achieve”, says CEO and co-founder Edwin van Rest. “Her presence is a great motivation for us as a team, for entrepreneurs, students, universities, international students, and all ‘Brainporters’.” With Prof.Dr Jo Ritzen – longest serving Minister of Education in the EU – hosting one of the speeches, there will be time to reflect upon the importance of international education and its role in today’s society. After the opening ceremony, Queen Máxima will receive an office tour from Edwin and speak with several employees on their contribution to the rapid growth and social impact of the company. Furthermore, Queen Máxima will also get to meet the charities that Studyportals supports, as well as students who found their education abroad through Studyportals and thus make a contribution to society.
