“The greatest thing a human soul ever does in this world is to see something and tell what it saw in a plain way. Hundreds of people can talk for one who can think, but thousands can think for one who can see. To see clearly is poetry, prophecy and religion, all in one.” -John Ruskin
My role is to ensure that any of the company’s writings or public communications are delivered in a consistent, coherent manner. I am responsible for thoroughly editing and revising any materials before they are sent to clients. In addition, I write and generate authoritative information to prospective students who are seeking options in continuing education. I make sure that anything written (internally or externally) meets or complies with company standards as well as the company’s overall vision. I assist with any marketing or promotional campaigns that require sensitivity and clarity in writing. I help develop strategies for communicating messages to any of the company’s various partners.
I am originally from the United States (Tampa, FL). I completed my Bachelor’s degree in English Literature at the University of South Florida in 2013, and relocated to the Netherlands to pursue my Research Master’s in Comparative Literary Studies at Utrecht University. After completing my Master’s, I was not ready to depart from the Netherlands; so, I applied for a work permit and have remained here ever since. I have a general love and affinity for the written word, and have a deep commitment to the art of writing. I am also keenly interested in the world of higher education, having been both a student and (at one point in my life) an aspiring academic. At the same time, I’ve spent much of my time being sensitive to and aware of how universities operate, while also maintaining a critical eye toward how students ought to negotiate and pursue their best educational options. I feel lucky, therefore, to be a part of the StudyPortals initiative, as I get to spend my life combining my two passions (writing and education), while also delivering important information to students who are seeking options in continuing education.
My key challenge is to figure out how to inspire and get the attention of prospective students. This challenge entails placing myself in the position of students and deciding what kind of information would be valuable to every user who enters our portals. Choosing the right words, deciding the best themes, and picking the best lines of communication are among the many challenges I confront in each task.
I enjoy reading, writing, and playing music. I have a general fondness for art and creative thinking. I also enjoy eating pizza and drinking coffee.
