Benedikt Wirmer

Benedikt joined StudyPortals as a part-timer in 2011 and was ever since responsible for a variety of interdisciplinary tasks and projects. In 2014 he started working full-time for StudyPortals managing several IT-related projects in the Community&Intelligence team, together with external companies. Since 2016 he supports StudyPortals during its fast growth as a cross-departmental innovation consultant. He initiates and runs various projects in close collaboration with the management team, making sure that we can offer innovative products and services efficient and scalable.

General introduction/background

Benedikt has a truly interdisciplinary and international background. During his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and Management at Paderborn University he decided to be a pioneer being Paderborn’s first exchange student at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. Besides his studies, he gave IT trainings to students and university staff and traveled around Europe with the student organization ESTIEM. When there was time left, he experimented with online content marketing on his own website which turned out to be a great way to finance his numerous travels.

Looking for a suitable Master’s programme on MastersPortal he decided to continue his studies at the Technical University of Eindhoven in 2011, specializing in renewable energy, innovation and sustainability. He graduated as M.Sc. in Innovation Sciences in 2014 with an interdisciplinary thesis combining evolutionary economics, business models and sanitation in developing countries. Part of his research took place in India and Malawi.
