Studyportals would like to congratulate all universities and universities of applied sciences that won an award. Unlike university rankings, Studyportals’ International Student Satisfaction Awards are based on thousands of reviews and opinions from international students in Europe. Among the Austrian universities that received sufficient reviews of international students to be eligible for the 2014 International Student Satisfaction Awards, a total of 10 universities received ratings ranging from “very good” (at least 8 out of 10) to “outstanding” (at least 9.5 out of 10).

Reasons to (not) recommend an international study experience

  • International students recommend Austria because of the great cities and a vibrant social life
  • Students find the city and culture more important and they enjoy these aspects much more than the average international student in Europe
  • Students find their personal and professional development very important; however, they are not impressed with their improvements especially with discovering new cultures and learning a new language
  • International students find cost less important, and while they complain about expenses they find Austria less expensive than other European destinations
  • International students in Austria find academics more important than the average international student in Europe, but they find quite some room for improvement regarding the language of instruction and the structure and organization of the program
  • Students find university services quite important, and while they do complain, they are more positive than other international students in Europe
