Each year the EAIE rewards extraordinary professionals that despite an early career already have made a noteworthy contribution to international higher education. This year, Edwin van Rest was honoured with the Rising Star Award at the 25thAnnual EAIE conference 2013 in Istanbul.

The European Association for International Education is Europe’s leading association for International Education, over 4,800 delegates attended the Istanbul conference. During the closing plenary, EAIE’s Vice President Laura Howard praised Edwin for his intelligence, drive and strong commitment to international education.

Edwin van Rest, one of the StudyPortals founders and CEO of the company, is very grateful for this recognition and would like to thank everyone that helped him to realise his dream to create transparency in international study opportunities:

“My own international study experiences were unforgettable and life-changing – I therefore feel privileged and hyper motivated to be able to serve our field. I started as part of a group of hyper motivated students with a dream to create transparency in the fast growing international study options.

Receiving the EAIE Rising Star Award feels like a sign that part of that dream has turned into reality and is an ultimate recognition that our work not only helps students but also has impact on universities. The credit for the award goes out just as much to the excellent, hyper motivated team I am part of, the many universities and partners that work with us and many of the EAIE members that have been a source of cooperation and inspiration.

And our star still has to shine brighter, we keep on dreaming, as a matter of fact, it feels we have only just started.”

We are grateful to the EAIE members for this stimulating recogniton and for yet another great and successful conference!

We look forward to continue to contribute to the wonderful and rewarding field of international higher education, more passionate and dedicated than ever and strive to outlive the expectations this award represents!
