NAFSA Annual Conference & Denver = Perfect match!

So, you decided to join the NAFSA’s Annual Conference & Expo this year and booked your tickets to visit beautiful Denver in Colorado. There are so many things to do in Denver — a few days are probably not enough to check everything out. One thing is for sure, you won’t be missing the sunlight as Denver is blessed with over 300 days of sunshine per year!

Here are a few suggestions of what can you do while you are visiting Denver:

16th street mall  

The mall mile-long pedestrian mall along which one will find dozens of restaurants, shopping opportunities, the Denver Pavilions.  The mall was designed by I.M. Pei with red, grey, and white granite in a repeating pattern that – from above – looks like a Diamondback rattlesnake.  The free mall shuttle stops at every corner for easy access to all businesses.  

Larimer Square 

Larimer Square has a lot to offer. That includes shops and boutiques with the latest fashions from around the world.  Although not a pedestrian mall, the street is often closed for festivals and other events. It is one of the most popular attraction for evening activities.

 Colorado State Capitol 

A recently re-gilded Corinthian dome tops the building that also includes examples of Beaux-arts, Renaissance Revival, and Neo-Classical architecture.  The Capitol houses the offices of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor.  For a photo op, stand by one of the mile-high markers that put you exactly 5280 feet above sea level.

Denver Botanic Gardens

The Botanic gardens is located in the Cheesman Park neighborhood. During your visit, you will have the chance to explore nature as the 23-acre park contains a variety of themed gardens.

Most importantly during your Denver sightseeing, don’t forget to soak up the sun and scenery.
